Posada Amazonas is located adjacent to the Tambopata National Reserve, on a private reserve of the native community of Infierno and managed in conjunction with Rainforest Expeditions. The hostel is located ninety minutes by boat from the port city of Puerto Maldonado, but not isolated, since there is radio communication with the city. The lodge has no electricity and the nights are very dark, so they use kerosene lamps and candles. It has electrical generator that is used only once a day to recharge batteries of client’s cameras. Built with local materials combined with modern technology used in eco-lodges, the lodge was built with the support of the native community and is therefore a testament to their work and commitment. It is the perfect place for those seeking a brief stay in the Amazon framed in a true ecotourism experience, since it provides convenient facilities for a first introductory experience of the forest, wildlife watching or knowing the cultural context of the jungle.
It consists of a complex of four sections: rooms, dining area and kitchen, and other common service areas. The complex of rooms, consists of a total of 30 rooms. Common areas are open and spacious, offering a large area to relax and socialize. Include a dining room and bar, a reception hall with a souvenir shop and an interpretive center. The rooms are spacious and have private bathrooms with cold showers. Each room has beds, mosquito nets, bedside tables and hammocks or chairs. They are decorated with bas-relief sculptures that depict stories and characters from the traditions of the tribe Ese-eja.
The lodge offers soft adventure activities, family activities, nature lover’s walks, cultural jungle programs, bird watching and photography.

Canopy tower to see the jungle from above, visit to Tres Chimbadas Lake to see river otters, ethno-botanical tour, visit to the parrot clay lick to see also macaw, visit a local farm and learn their life style, video presentations at the lodge, night walk looking for mammals, insects and more, an ecotourism presentation, take the boat at night looking for caimans in the river.
