The Cock of the Rock Lodge offers the world's best experience in the Cloud Forest of the National Reserve of Manu. The lodge itself is nestled in a pristine Andean Cloud Forest, beckons the enthusiastic birder and adventurous nature lover, and protects and supports a 12,500-acre private cloud forest reserve. It consists of 12 double-occupancy bungalows with private bath facilities, and a separate complex with a large dining room. A local highland family staffs the lodge, and they also work as rangers, patrolling the private reserve. A bus from Cuzco to the lodge lasts about eight hours along an incredible 165km/102-miles ride. The road crosses the most spectacular and varied range of highland and jungle habitats in South America. The journey includes stops in local towns and walk opportunities to experience on foot the high humid cloud forest habitat. Often people take extra time to enjoy the unforgettable scenery, excellent birding and abundant cloud forest flora. The lodge offers 12 private rooms with spacious interiors, private bathrooms with hot water showers, screened windows and mosquito nets and private balcony.
