TRUJILLO

Trujillo is located on the north coast of Peru, on the right bank of the Moche River Valley and a few minutes away from the Pacific Ocean. It was founded by Francisco Pizarro on March 5, 1535. It is now known as the "City of Eternal Spring", "National Capital of the Marinera" and "Capital of Culture in Peru". Every year the city hosts many celebrations and festivals, among which the most important are "National Marinera Contest" “Peruvian Paso Fino Horse contest” and "The International Spring Festival".

Trujillo has two archeological sites from of pre-Columbian era.  “Chan Chan” is considered to be the world's largest ancient mud city, and the “Huaca Del Sol y de La Luna” show incredible colorful fine art decoration. The downtown is decorated with many colonial and Republican monuments, including churches and houses decorated with iron-barred windows.

HUACA DE LA LUNA AND CHAN CHAN
The Huaca de la Luna was built by the Mochica culture, and represents the most beautiful example of architectural iconography done in Peru, including mural painting and high relieve. Chan Chan is the largest mud city on earth, and it was constructed by the Chimu culture. It shows impressive mud brick walls with high relieve decoration.
