From sea level we ascend to the high flat lands of the Peruvian Andes, house of the highest navigable lake in the world, the Titicaca. We will visit the floating islands of the Uros, which are the most traditional inhabitants of the lake. We will travel on board the fabulous Andean Explorer train, which crosses plains and mountains of the Andes towards the city of Cuzco, house of former Incas. We will visit the fertile Sacred Valley of the Incas, and learn the ancient Quechua culture, which still remains alive in the heart of every inhabitant of the valley, will buy on Pisaq's traditional market, being able to negotiate prices with the local vendors. Machu Picchu's greatness is at the end of the Urubamba river valley, to which we access by train, enjoying the landscape change in every minute of our journey. From the highlands of the Andes mountain range, we flight to the plains of the rainforest of the National Reserve of Tambopata, where we will be witnesses of the great biodiversity of the Peruvian Amazon jungle.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LIMA - TRANSFER TO HOTEL

On arrival our representative will contact you at the airport and escort us to the hotel in Lima. This magnificent capital city of Peru, is known as the "Gastronomical Capital of South America", due the mixture of many cultures and races, living in one only place during many centuries, making of Lima a melting pot of cultural and culinary mix.

DAY 2: FLIGHT TO JULIACA - TRANSFER TO HOTEL IN PUNO

You will be escorted to the airport to board our flight to the city of Juliaca. Upony our arrival at the airport, you will be met by our guide and be escorted to the hotel in Puno. The route will offer you spectacular views of Lake Titicaca. You will have the afternoon free to relax and have a good acclimatization to the altitude.

 DAY 3: TOUR TO LAKE TITICACA - UROS FLOATING ISLANDS

Early departure heading to the port in the lake, you will board our motor boat to navigate the vast Titicaca lake. You visit the floating islands of the Uros people, who use Lake Plants “Totora reeds” to create floating islands. They live on the islands practicing animal raising, agriculture, fishing and birds hunting. You will navigate back in the lake to visit the island of Taquile, whose inhabitants still maintain ancestral customs, in agriculture, communal work and textile art. The most striking of the island is that the textile weaving is practiced by men of the island.

DAY 4: JOURNEY TO CUZCO - TRANSFER TO HOTEL

The route from Puno to Cuzco is really beautiful and culturally interesting, depending on the type of transportation you want to use, PACHA TOURS & TRIPS provides the following options for you to enjoy your trip, depending on trip duration time, what to see and visit or level of comfort you are looking for.
*On board the Luxury Andean Explorer Train: 10 hours trip to Cuzco. The train provides a restaurant car and a panoramic car, in which you can enjoy the scenery and includes lunch. Does not make any stops along the way.
*By plane: 45-minute journey to Cuzco. Flight departures from the city of Juliaca.
*On board a Tourist Bus: 8 hour trip to Cuzco. Includes lunch and stops to visit 3 interesting touristic attractions, which belong to Pre Inca, Inca and Colonial epochs (Pukara site, Raqchi site and Andahuaylillas church).

DAY 5: CUZCO CITY TOUR

You will visit the historical center of the city. You begin with the Qoricancha ancient temple of the sun god of the Incas, where you see impressive Inca architecture decorated with beautiful gardens. The Cathedral of Cuzco, one of the largest churches in Latin America, decorated with artworks from the 16th and 17th century, they belong to the “Escuela Cuzqueña” Cuzco School of Art. The Cathedral is listed as one of the best European Colonial Art Museums in South America. Then you will visit Sacsayhuaman, the largest Inca architectural site in the region. It was built with gigantic stones, some with more than 100 tons of weight or the size of a truck.

DAY 6: TRAIN TO MACHU PICCHU - TOURING THE CITY - RETURN TO CUZCO

You board our train to Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. En route the scenery is spectacular, going from the mountains to the high jungle in a few minutes and seeing the Urubamba River on the left side of the train 50% of our entire trip. On arrival you will board our bus to the city of Machu Picchu. Our guide will show you the most important sights on a visit that will last all morning. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to remain in the ruins before heading to Aguas Calientes and board our train back to Cuzco.

DAY 7: VISIT TO THE SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS

You will be picked up at the hotel for full day tour towards the Sacred Valley. The Urubamba River Valley is very broad and fertile, the people are involved in the white corn cultivation, white corn is the largest sweetest in the world. You visit the colorful market of Pisaq, where you will have the opportunity to photograph and negotiate with the local vendors who sell handicrafts and farm products. You will drive along the valley to a nice restaurant. Later you will drive to Ollantaytambo and visit the archaeological site, which shows the degree of perfection in architecture developed by Incas, and also visit the nowadays local town, which shows original Inca urban planning and housing. There you visit a local family, where you will have the opportunity to witness the lifestyle of some families in the valley and in the Peruvian highlands.

DAY 8: FLIHT TO PUERTO MALDONADO - TRANSFER TO THE JUNGLE LODGE

You board our flight to the city of Puerto Maldonado. On our arrival you will be contacted by our guide and escorted to the offices of the jungle lodge in the city, you have to leave some belongings that you are not going to use during your stay in the Amazon lodge. You will then go to the pier to board our motorboat for 45 minutes to the lodge. Upon your arrival will be received by the lodge manager, who will give you a safety and navigation briefing. In the afternoon you will be guided to a platform located on the heights of the trees (canopy tower) near the lodge. From the platform you have spectacular views of the forest that houses thousands of animals. The forest looks like a green carpet, bisected by the meandering river Tambopata. From the platform you can also see flocks of parrots, parakeets and other birds perched on the tops of huge trees. In the evening you will attend to an ecotourism talk given by the lodge staff.

DAY 9: JUNGLE LODGE - TRES CHIMBADAS LAKE - PARROT CLAY LINK

You board a motorboat for 30 minutes towards the beginning of the road, which takes you to the lake Three Chimbadas. The walk will last forty-five minutes. At the lake, you will ride a catamaran searching for the resident family of giant river otters (60% of visitors able to see them), and other animal species such as alligators, birds and monkeys. You will return to the area where the lodge pier and motorboat for 20 minutes to the Parroy Clay Link, where you will see dozens of parrots and parakeets, which descend to the river every morning , to eat the clay minerals, essential to their diet. The clay licks are more crowded later in the morning or at noon. You have lunch at the lodge. This afternoon you board the boat again for twenty minutes to the Ethno botanical Center at Ñape, communal organization producing medicine from jungle plants, this medicine is administered to patients at the clinic in the community. You will hike along a trail, where our guide will explain about native plants and their medicinal properties. At night, accompanied by our guide, you can take an optional walk in the forest looking for animals. At night is when most wild mammals are active, but rarely are seen.

DAY 10: FLIGHT TO LIMA

In the morning, depending on your flight, we leave the lodge and you will board the boat heading to the city of Puerto Maldonado, you will pick up our luggage and will be transferred to the airport to board your flight to Lima.
