This district is the home of lovely green park-like areas, luxurious hotels and fine dining establishments. Overnight : Miraflores Park Hotel - Lima DAY 2: LIMA CITY TOUROur guide will meet you at the hotel and will accompany you throughout Lima, the "City of the Kings". Your tour will include the modern and prosperous districts of the capital, as well as the historical center of the city, which contains the Cathedral of Lima, the Palace of Government, the Plaza de Armas and the Convent and Catacombs of San Francisco. You will have lunch in a charming restaurant. In the afternoon you will visit the Museum Larco Herrera, which displays a collection of 45000 objects of Pre Colombian art, including a special collection of erotic art. Overnight : Miraflores Park Hotel - Lima DAY 3: FLIGHT TO CUZCO - TRANSFER TO HOTEL IN THE SACRED VALLEY (URUBAMBA)Our representative will accompany you to the airport to board your flight to Cusco city. Upon your arrival, our guide will meet you at the airport and drive you to the Hotel Libertador Tambo del Inca, located in Urubamba. The hotel has an excellent location in sight of the magnificent Urubamba River. En route you will visit the colonial town of Chinchero, home of Inca ruins, a 16th century colonial church, a handicraft market and wonderful scenic landscapes. You will witness a textile weaving demonstration that will be offered by professional weavers, and will learn the ancestral techniques of spinning, dyeing and weaving. Overnight : Rio Sagrado Hotel - Urubamba DAY 4: SACRED VALLEY - PISAQ - OLLANTAYTAMBOThis day you will visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas, which is one of the most fertile valleys in Peru. The inhabitants of the Valley are farmers. Their principal agricultural product is white corn, which is the biggest and sweetest on the planet. You will begin the exploration of the Valley by visiting the Inca archaeological site of Pisaq, which is located on the mountain top, offering wonderful panoramic views of the mountains and the Valley. You will have lunch in a former land owner's house, now a luxury restaurant for special occasions, called Casa Hacienda Orihuela. This restaurant contains beautiful gardens, a view of the Urubamba valley and an art museum, exhibiting Inca and Colonial art pieces. In the afternoon you will visit the archaeological site and the town of Ollantaytambo, where you will visit a local family and will witness the life style of the people who live in this town. Overnight : Rio Sagrado Hotel - Urubamba DAY 5: LUXURY TRAIN JOURNEY TO MACHU PICCHU - MACHU PICCHU VISIT This day you will be transferred to Poroy station where the luxury Hiram Bingham train awaits to take you to the lost city of the Incas, “Machu Picchu”. The train journey will take three and a half hours. This is an incredible trip, especially fascinatithe are the changes in vegetation, elevation, geography and scenic landscapes. At your arrival to Aguas Calientes train station, you will board the bus to the Sanctuary Lodge Hotel, located a few steps from the Inca city of Machu Picchu. In the afternoon our expert guide will present an exceptional tour of this wonderful city. DAY 6: MACHU PICCHU FREE DAY - RETURN TRAIN TO CUZCOSince the hotel is just a few meters away from Machu Picchu, you will have the option to rise early and enjoy the sunrise in Machu Picchu. Today is a day of leisure. You may want to hike the Huayna Picchu mountain (which appears in the traditional photography of Machu Picchu), or hike to the draw bridge, or hike along the Inca trail to the sun gate. In the evening you will board the Hiram Bingham return train to Cuzco. On arrival to Poroy train station, you will be transferred to the hotel Monasterio. Overnight : Monasterio Hotel - Cuzco DAY 7: CUZCO CITY TOURYou will have a pleasing experience visiting the historical center of the city in the company of our expert guide. You will visit the Temple of the Sun, known also as Qorikancha, which typifies beautiful Inca buildings constructed with fine architecture. The Cathedral which is recognized as a great art museum, is decorated with more than 300 paintings completed during the colonial epoch and belonging to the Escuela Cuzqueña (Cuzco Art School), founded in the 17th century. On the hills surrounding the city, you will visit Saqsayhuaman which shows in its construction gigantic stones, some the size of a car. Overnight : Monasterio Hotel - Cuzco DAY 8: FIGHT TO LIMA - FLIGHT TO IQUITOS - BOARD THE CRUISE (SATURDAY)Your morning is free to explore Cuzco on your own. At noon you will be transferred to the airport to board your flight to the airport in Lima. On arrival you will check in to board your flight to the Amazon city of Iquitos. Upon your arrival, the Amazon jungle guide will meet you at the airport and drive you to the pier, where our cruise boat awaits you. You will check in on board. Later you will cruise to the river Yanayacu, located in the heart of the Amazonía. Before dinner, you will have a safety briefing and cruise orientation. Overnight : Aqua River Cruise - Amazon area DAY 9: AMAZON RIVER - TAHUAYO RIVER AND LAKE CHAROWe recommend that you rise early to enjoy sunrise on the Amazon. A buffet breakfast will be served on board. Today you will have your first experience in the Amazon rain forest. You will visit the river Tahuayo of black water and will fish for Piranhas in the lake Charo. You will be in close proximity to our cruise boat where you always find safety jackets, rain ponchos, rubber boots and bottled water. Sailing with our guide you will see occasional fishermen and a great variety of birds, monkeys and sloths. You will come back to the cruise boat for lunch. In the afternoon you will explore the islands Yacapana "Iguana Islands", where you will see many iguanas resting on the ground and on the trees. Returning to our cruise boat, you will have the opportunity to see gray and pink dolphins. You will then cruise to the east Amazon, where you will see the rivers Ucayali and Marañón. Overnight : Aqua River Cruise - Amazon area DAY 10: MARAÑON RIVER - NATIONAL RESERVE OF PACAYA SAMIRIAYou will experience the jungle in a four hour walk in the company of our naturalistic guide. You will walk through the jungle looking for wild animals and learning the important medicinal value of the Amazonian plants. You will return to the cruise boat for lunch. In the evening you will travel to the river bank to see different varieties of monkeys, birds and pink dolphins. Since you will be returning to the river boat at night, you will have the opportunity to search for and spot river Caymans with your flashlights. Overnight : Aqua River Cruise - Amazon area DAY 11: LAKE YUCURUCHE - BIRTH OF THE AMAZON - PUERTO PRADO - IQUITOS - LIMA You will depart on board the cruise boat early, traveling along the river Ucayali towards Lake Yucuruche, where you will walk searching for the world’s biggest water plant, the giant Lily "Royal Victory". You will return to the Cruise boat for breakfast and then embark once again to explore the birth of the Amazon River, in the union of the Marañón and Ucayali Rivers.
