The Museo Enrico Poli is not a museum, it is a private collection owned by Enrico Poli, an individual, who has spent a lifetime collecting archaeological pieces and antiques from various parts of Peru. This is one of the finest private collections in the country. In this house you will see objects from pre-Inca and Inca cultures, as well as pieces of art from the colonial era. This superb collection includes ceramics, paintings, gold, silver and wood. The collection of pottery and articles of precious metals is exquisite. A visit is well worth the time, even if simply to listen to the elder Mr. Poli talk and express his personal opinions on the collection, the Catholic Church, Spaniards (invaders, not conquistadors), the ancient peoples of the area, and humanity in general. Mr. Poli does not speak English and a translator is necessary. Enrico Poli, or his son, personally direct the tours. It is necessary to make an appointment at least 24 hours prior to visiting for assess to the collection.
