PERUVIAN AMAZON

The construction of a number of ecotourism lodges in harmony with the Peruvian rainforest has provided the ideal destination for those travellers who are nature lovers. Tourists can visit the natural habitat of many species of fauna and flora which cannot be seen anywhere else on the planet.

The Amazon basin covers approximately 61% of Peru’s national territory, and it is home to 90% of the country’s forests. This is the most biologically diverse region on the planet and the world’s most extensive and fascinating natural laboratory.

Peru is one of the world’s 12 megadiverse countries, and this status is largely due to the biodiversity of its Amazon region.

The geographical and climatic conditions of Peru mean that its possesses 84% of the world’s life zones, with the Amazon region alone containing 13% of those life zones and offering perfect conditions for a huge variety of birds, mammals, amphibians, butterflies, trees, plants and orchids.

Among the most interesting protected conservation areas in the Peruvian Amazon region are: Manu National Park, the Tambopata National Reserve, Bahuaja-Sonene National Park and the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve.
